I’m dreaming of a white Christmas

It’s Christmas Eve and the Christmas holiday is upon us, or maybe it’s a little past Christmas depending on when you actually get to see this.

As I write this, it’s about 63° outside and no snow in the forecast until next week. It just doesn’t seem right to have Christmas without some snow.

Traditionally the month from Thanksgiving to Christmas can be a crazy, hectic time of year. There’s shopping to do, presents to buy, and Christmas baking to be done.

This is also a traditional time for social events and family gatherings.

It’s a time for giving thanks and reflecting on everything that has happened this year.

For me, one of my personal favorites is writing my Christmas letter. It’s a short recap of my year and being able to share some of the highlights and some of the lowlights of the year.

This has definitely been a different kind of year. For most, family gatherings have been minimal. Social interaction has been seriously curtailed.

The simple act of shaking hands or hugging a friend has nearly gone away.

It’s been nearly a year since I’ve been able to see my grandkids. It was the year I was hoping to take a memorial sailing trip in my dad’s honor on his boat.

Overall, it has been a good year and I look forward to the coming new year.

It has been a privilege and an honor to be here with you all. I’ve been humbled throughout the year with your success stories and “Ah Ha” moments.

My all-time favorite story goes like this.

“⁷And she brought forth her first-born Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

⁸Now here were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. ⁹And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. ¹⁰Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. ¹¹For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. ¹²And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.”

¹³And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying:

¹⁴       ”Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”

Yes, my favorite story is the Christmas Story and I look forward to reading and sharing it every year.
